Manuscript Elements

Take empirical study for example, the manuscripts should include the following elements:

  •    Title
  •    Author’s name and institutional affiliation
  •    Abstract
  •    Body
  •    Tables & Figures (insert into the body)
  •    Acknowledgement (not necessary)
  •    References
  •    Appendix (not necessary)

 Title

Title should summarize the main idea of the whole manuscript, concise and unique is also important. The first letter of each notional word should be written in a capital letter.

 Author’s name and institutional affiliation

All the authors’ names should be shown in the manuscripts. The preferred form of an author’s name is first name, middle name and last name without any titles (e.g., Dr., Professor) or degrees (e.g., PhD, EdD).

The institutional affiliation identifies the location where the author(s) was or were when the research was conducted, which is usually a university or an organization. The component parts should include corresponding address, zip code, city, country, telephone number and email address.

 Abstract

Abstract is a brief, comprehensive of the contents of the article, so it should be accurate, coherent, concise and nonevaluative. Besides, it should not exceed 200 words. After the abstract, 3 to 8 keywords must be listed.

 Body

In an original empirical study, body usually consists of introduction, method, result, discussion and conclusion. If authors need to use tables/figures toilluminate research result, the tables/figures should be inserted into the body.

 Tables

Tables should be placed with the first reference to them in the body of manuscript. With regard to the format of table, you should put table’s caption before the table body and table note. Moreover, avoid submitting image version, because image version is hard to re-edit.

 Figures

Figures should be placed with the first reference to them in the body of manuscript. You should put the figure’s caption and description below the figure body.

 Acknowledgement

As an author, you are free to decide whether you need this acknowledgement part or not.

 References

References acknowledge the work of previous scholars and provide a reliable way to locate it. The references cited in the manuscript should be sufficient to support the need for your research and to ensure that readers can place it in the context of previous research and theorizing.

 Appendix

Usually appendix is not necessarily. Include an appendix only it helps readers to understand, evaluate or replicate the study or theoretical argument being made. The appendix should beadded at the end of the manuscript.
