Mengyan Xiong, Yu Chen

Abstract

Museum guide text is an important carrier for cultural communication of cultural relics, and the quality of its translation directly affects the international audience's interest in and cognition of cultural resources. Based on the theory of translation conversion, this paper explores the language conversion strategy in the translation of museum texts and its cultural communication effect by combining the Chinese and English text examples of the guide language of Sanxingdui Museum. It is found that the translation strategies of hierarchical conversion and category conversion can effectively overcome the language differences and cultural gap between Chinese and English, so that the translated text retains the original connotation and conforms to the acceptance habits of the target language readers. This study provides practical references for the translation of museums' foreign propaganda texts and helps the international communication of Chinese cultural heritage.
