Abstract

The translator chose an excerpt from the white paper Traditional Chinese Medicine in China for translation practice, discussing the reasons for selecting this text and analyzing the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) texts. The translator gives a brief summary about the difficulties in the translation process, namely the translation of long sentences, sentences without subjects, Chinese idioms, etc. Considering the professionalism and cultural specificity of TCM texts, the translator proposed translation techniques such as conversion, amplification, and omission in order to understand the differences between English and Chinese, to achieve the expression habit of getting rid of the language shell and getting closer to the target language.
